Chocolate Brownies: You’re All Invited by Margot Henderson


Makes about 24

  • 400g dark chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 300g unsalted butter, diced
  • 5 eggs
  • 500g caster sugar
  • 100g flour
  • 100g hazelnuts, halved

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees C.

Butter a 30cm baking tin and line it with greaseproof paper.

Melt the chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water, then allow to cool to room temperature.


Using an electric beater, beat the eggs and sugar until white and mousse-like. Mix in the melted chocolate and butter. Finally, fold in the flour and hazelnuts.

Bake in the preheated oven for 40 – 45 minutes. The top should be crisp to the touch. Leave to cool before slicing.
